Redcar Lib Dems demand answers on Vertical Pier

by Group Office on 9 October, 2014

Liberal Democrats on Redcar & Cleveland Council today demanded to know what is being done to ensure that Redcar’s “Vertical Pier” is properly maintained.

This follows concerns that some of the structure was not coated properly and has allowed the tower to rust.

There are also major worries that the units within the tower are badly under-occupied.

Lib Dem Deputy Leader and Parliamentary Candidate, Councillor Josh Mason, said:

“The Council has spent a lot of taxpayers’ money on unpopular developments in the last few years – the Vertical Pier, the Hub and Myplace.

“The facts show that they are all failing.

“The Vertical Pier won an award for being ugly and it is now falling to bits!

“The Hub is hopelessly under-used and MyPlace is failing to meet any of its targets.

“It’s high time the Labour Council admitted fault and put together a plan to give local people the services they deserve and have already paid for.”
