Redcar & Cleveland borough is being deprived of money to do up its roads, according to Liberal Democrat councillors.
Figures uncovered by the Liberal Democrats show that the Labour-run council will receive only £121,000 from a £50 million Government pothole repair fund.
Neighbouring North Yorkshire County Council will receive more than 13 times as much.
Councillor Josh Mason, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, said:
“Of course North Yorkshire should get more. It is a much bigger area and very rural.
“But there is no justification for them getting 13 times more money than us. Redcar & Cleveland has a large rural part as well, and many roads in our towns are also in dire need of repair.
“The state of the roads is one of the things that matters most to residents, and it’s very important that the council gets the resources to try to put things right.
“Redcar and Cleveland borough is being short-changed by the Tories.”
