Liberal Democrats in Redcar & Cleveland are delighted that the Government is putting £5.2 million into fighting the problem of loan sharks this year.
The North East will now benefit from the support of a national team of experts in the field, while at the same time retaining its locally based knowledge and expertise on the ground.
The changes have been implemented following the recommendations of an independent report commissioned under the previous administration.
Lib Dem Councillor Eric Howden, who represents Dormanstown, said:
“At a time when many things are having to be cut because of Labour’s mismanagement of the economy, I am delighted that the Government has committed £5.2 million pounds for 2011 to this project.”
“The new system will deliver a committed service to the people of our area who will benefit from the national team’s extensive experience in successfully prosecuting these despicable criminals who blight our neighbourhoods and communities.”Leave a comment
