It’s time for the ward boundaries in Redcar to be made more sensible, says a local Lib Dem councillor.
The Local Government Boundary Commission is currently looking at making changes to boundaries across Redcar & Cleveland Borough. They have not been amended since 2002.
In particular, local Lib Dems are calling for the Mickledales estate to be included in a Redcar ward, rather than being in with New Marske, as it currently is.
Redcar Councillor Josh Mason said:
“Mickledales is fundamentally part of Redcar.
“It is currently in a ward with New Marske and part of Marske, but this is largely because of historic parish land boundaries that are not relevant now.
“I hope the Commission will use this boundary review as an opportunity to put this right.”
Redcar Lib Dems are also calling for Kirkleatham Village to be incorporated into Kirkleatham Ward (it is currently in Dormanstown Ward). In addition, they are also asking for Eston Town Centre to be fully in Eston Ward. It is currently split by the main road between Eston and Teesville wards.
