Liberal Democrat Councillor John Earl was delighted to be at the grand opening of the new ICT suite at Newcomen Primary School.
Cllr Earl, who represents Dormanstown Ward, cut the ribbon to open the new facilities at a ceremony last Friday, 28 September.
He was joined by ward colleague Cllr Eric Howden and pupils and teachers who were very excited about their new computers.
The new ICT room at the school has cost around £20,000 to equip with IT equipment and furniture. Cllr Earl helped out with an £800 donation from his £2,000 ward allocation.
Councillor Earl commented:
“A few months ago, I approached the Headteacher to ask if there were any projects at the school which needed help. It was then that I learned about the plans for a new computer room.”
“It is such an important part of education nowadays, and I think it is right that our children get the best. That’s why I am so happy to be supporting this project.”
“The school still needs a new printer though, and I am looking at ways in which this could be funded.”
