Ian Swales and the Liberal Democrat Council Group have this week pledged to support Yearby residents in their fight against proposals for a wind turbine on Turners Arms Farm in Yearby.

The planning application, which can be found on the Council’s website, proposes a single wind turbine 78m in height on the land to the southeast of Turners Arms Farm near to the new Crematorium site. If approved, the turbine will sit just 700m from the nearest home.

Commenting Ian said:

“I don’t often get involved in planning matters but I do feel strongly about turbines this size in such close proximity to housing. I opposed the Beacon Moor proposals and was glad to see the plans abandoned.  I hope that the Council’s Planning Committee will carefully consider the views of residents when a final decision is made.”

Commenting Mrs Wilson, a representative for the residents said:

“The turbine is way too big for “personal use”. It would power some 300 houses and the sub-station is a ridiculous size too. It is far too obvious that this is to get a foot in the door for more than one and there are enough turbines in the area with those offshore.”
