Council gets financial clean bill of health

by Group Office on 21 March, 2022

Liberal Democrats in Redcar & Cleveland are delighted that the council’s auditors have praised the council’s finances.
Liberal Democrats run Redcar & Cleveland Council in partnership with Independent councillors. Lib Dem Councillor Glyn Nightingale as cabinet member for resources is in charge of the council’s finances.
The auditors, Mazars, looked at the arrangements to secure economy, efficiency and effectiveness in its use of public money.
In each category they stated that “No significant weaknesses in arrangements were identified.”
Commenting, Liberal Democrat finance chief Cllr Glyn Nightingale said:
“I am delighted that the auditors have given the council’s finances a clean bill of health. It is a testament to the hard work we do to secure value for money for residents.
“With inflation, tax increases and fuel bill hikes around the corner, it is all the more important that we use every penny of council funds well.
Lib Dem Council Group Leader Karen King, who represents the St Germains Ward of Marske, added:
“It is with this in mind that we have been able to freeze Council Tax this year in order to help our residents during these difficult times.”
